Our farm has a herd of Red Angus Cattle, supported by a pedigree Red Angus Bull, and Dorper sheep with two pedigree Dorper Rams.
Lucerne is our main crop grown and is cut and baled for the sheep and cattle through the harsh winters and summers.

The fruit grown is figs (three varieties) , pears, apricots, grapes, prickly pears, and lemons.
Grain fed chickens, that produce lovely eggs.

We have graded kilometers of great walking or cycling roads throughout the Karoo veld on the farm. The flora and fauna is always interesting. Our garden consists of amazing cacti and succulents suitable from the Karoo.

70 species of birds have been identified.

The cottage was the original farmhouse and we wanted to keep it as authentic as possible. It is typical of Karoo farmhouses built at that time with the attic space above and lovely wooden beam ceilings which keeps the cottage cool. The original owners of the farm, the van den Bergs are buried in a graveyard under the gum trees. The farm is completely off the grid. Electricity supply totally solar.

Blouhuis Farm has 360 hectares, for you to enjoy. The Brandrivier runs through the farm parallel to the R323, from which you can fish or swim depending on the amount of rain that has fallen. Our farm is ideal for hikers, bird watchers (70 identified species) and those interested in the flora and fauna of the Klein Karoo.
